Eco Troopers

ECO- TROOPERS update

This year we have a fantastic core group of ECO Troopers who have already done lots of work on the allotment and in the school grounds, despite the cold weather and snow at the beginning of the year! Now that we have received our second ECO Schools Green Flag we are looking to do even more projects in our school environment.

Work on the allotment includes making a mini beast mansion out of wooden pallets and old bricks which should house a variety of insects, bugs and even frogs. We also want to encourage more birds around the school so we have made some very bright and colourful nesting holders so that the birds can use the material for nesting.

At Christmas we had great fun making our own candles and a reindeer out of some old branches we found around school. We even made a small profit by selling them at the Winter Festival Performances. Our next project is to enter a competition to grow as many potatoes as we can!

We have also made some bee nest boxes using old bean canes and guttering pipe. We hope to put these around the allotment in time for spring.

You can keep up to date with all our projects on the school blog!
